Description

A hearty, wholesome whole wheat loaf made with warm water, yeast, honey, whole wheat flour, wheat germ, and bulgur wheat. No kneading required — mix, pan, rise, and bake. Dense and nutty.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Mix very warm water, yeast, salt, and honey in a large bowl. Let stand 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in whole wheat flour, wheat germ, and bulgur wheat. Mix until combined.
  3. Place dough in an oiled 8Ă—4Ă—2-inch loaf pan. Let stand 10 minutes uncovered in a warm place.
  4. Turn oven on to 400°F. When 10 minutes is up, bake for 40 minutes until well browned.
  5. Remove from pan and let cool at least 15 minutes before slicing.
