Description

A classic deviled egg recipe — hard-boiled eggs halved, yolks mashed with mayonnaise, yellow mustard, sweet relish, and salt until smooth and creamy, piped back into the whites, and dusted with paprika. A timeless appetizer that disappears first at every gathering.

  1. Place eggs in a single layer in a pot. Cover with cold water by 1 inch. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat, cover, and let stand 12 minutes. Transfer to ice water to cool completely.
  2. Peel eggs. Slice each in half lengthwise. Remove yolks to a bowl.
  3. Mash yolks with a fork. Add mayonnaise, mustard, and sweet relish. Mix until smooth and creamy. Season with salt.
  4. Pipe or spoon yolk mixture back into the egg white halves.
  5. Dust with paprika. Refrigerate until serving.
