Mardi Gras King Cake
Description
A quick, crowd-pleasing king cake made from refrigerated crescent roll dough arranged in a ring on a baking stone, filled with a cream cheese and lemon pie filling center, and decorated with a powdered sugar glaze in classic Mardi Gras colors of purple, green, and gold. All the celebration without the yeasted dough.

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla together until smooth.

Separate crescent roll dough and arrange pieces on a 15-inch baking stone with the long points toward the center, forming a ring. Press the dough together to cover the stone, leaving the center open.

Spread cream cheese mixture over the dough. Top with lemon pie filling.

Fold the outer edge of the dough around the filling. Also fold the center tips in to enclose.

Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.

Mix powdered sugar and milk or juice until smooth. Drizzle over the warm cake.

Divide remaining glaze into 3 portions, tint with purple, green, and gold food coloring. Drizzle and decorate with colored sugars in alternating Mardi Gras colors.
