Description

The simplest, most honest apple pie — crisp apples tossed with sugar, flour, and cinnamon, piled into a bottom crust, topped and sealed with a second crust, slitted for steam, and baked until the apples are tender and the crust is golden. Nothing more and nothing less. Exactly what apple pie should be.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Peel, core, and slice apples.
  3. Mix apple slices with sugar, flour, and cinnamon until well coated.
  4. Place apple mixture in the bottom pie shell.
  5. Place second pie crust on top and form to the edges of the pie plate. Crimp or press edges to seal.
  6. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  7. Bake for approximately 30–40 minutes until the crust is golden and apples are tender.
  8. Cool at least 30 minutes before serving.
