Description

A simple cream cheese mint candy — Philadelphia cream cheese beaten smooth with an electric mixer, powdered sugar worked in gradually until stiff, then flavored and tinted to suit any occasion. Shape by hand or use a mold. Classic wedding shower and holiday mint that can be made in any flavor or color.

  1. Beat cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth.
  2. Add powdered sugar a little at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Toward the end of the process, work the mixture with clean hands.
  3. Add food coloring and flavoring to suit your taste and occasion.
  4. Shape into small rounds or press into molds.
  5. Refrigerate for 1 hour until firm.
  6. Store in a covered container in the refrigerator.

Toward the end of mixing, the dough becomes too stiff for the mixer and must be worked by hand — this is normal. Rinsing hands in cold water helps prevent sticking while shaping.

These can be shaped into small rounds, pressed into rubber molds, or rolled and cut with small cookie cutters. They set firm at room temperature.
