Description

Dad's BBQ beans — crispy bacon crumbled back into baked beans and blue runner creole red beans sautéed with onion in bacon grease, enriched with BBQ sauce, brown sugar, and molasses and cooked on low for 15–20 minutes. The kind of beans that belong at every cookout and pulled pork dinner.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Fry bacon until crispy and set aside. When cool, crumble.
  2. Pour off all but 2 Tbsp. of bacon grease from the pan.
  3. Sauté diced onion in the remaining bacon grease until softened.
  4. Drain baked beans and add to the onions. Stir to combine.
  5. Add red beans, brown sugar, molasses, salt, pepper, and BBQ sauce. Stir well.
  6. Sprinkle in bacon crumbles.
  7. Cook on low for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Serve hot.
