Description

The legendary copycat recipe — butter, two sugars, eggs, vanilla, flour, and oatmeal ground in a blender to a fine powder, combined with chocolate chips, grated Hershey bar, and chopped nuts. Baked at high heat for just 6 minutes so they stay chewy and slightly underdone in the center. Makes 112 cookies, and that is the right number.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and both sugars together until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour, ground oatmeal, salt, baking soda, and baking powder together.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients. Mix well.
  4. Add chocolate chips, grated Hershey bar, and chopped nuts. Stir to combine.
  5. Shape into golf-ball-sized portions and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  6. Bake at 375°F for exactly 6 minutes.
  7. Cool briefly on the cookie sheet before transferring to racks.

Note

Grind the oatmeal in small batches in the blender on high until it reaches a fine powder consistency. Measure it before grinding, not after.

6 minutes is the correct bake time — these cookies look underdone when they come out. They firm up as they cool. Overbaking makes them hard.
