Description

A savory skillet bread made with biscuit mix, grated American cheese, poppy seeds, and dried minced onion — baked low and slow in an electric skillet. Dense, cheesy, and satisfying with a golden bottom crust.

  1. Melt shortening in skillet.
  2. In a large bowl, combine biscuit mix, grated cheese, poppy seeds, and dried minced onion.
  3. Add eggs, milk, and melted shortening to the dry mixture. Stir until just moistened. Do not overmix.
  4. Spread dough evenly in the skillet.
  5. Bake at 300°F for 25 minutes until set and golden on the bottom.
  6. Let rest 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
