Description

A buttery blueberry cake with a generous layer of fresh blueberries and a spiced streusel topping of cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, and cold butter — baked in a 9×13 pan and ready in 45 minutes. Equally at home at a breakfast table or as a casual dessert served warm.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13 pan well.
  2. Cream butter and sugar together. Beat in egg.
  3. Sift dry ingredients together. Add alternately with buttermilk to the butter mixture.
  4. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Top with blueberries.
  5. Mix sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg for the streusel. Cut cold butter into tablespoons and blend into the dry ingredients with a pastry blender until crumbly.
  6. Sprinkle streusel evenly over the blueberries.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 35 minutes until golden and set.
